Design documents are the first step I use in developing a learning solution after meeting with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs).  I use them to communicate course content, laying out a generalized structure for the desired learning objectives before diving deeper into the storyboard and designing process.

Employee Training Design Document

After the subject matter experts are happy with the content outlined in the design document, I move onto designing the projected learning solution through the use of a storyboard.  The storyboard shows the structure, themes, navigation, deliverables, visual outline, content and audio transcript for the targeted learning solution.
